The Explanation of Article Seven

The Seventh Article explains what is needed to be done to have the Constitution approved. The delegates at the Constitutional Convention approved the Constitution on September 17, 1787. When the delegates signed their names on the Constitution, they approved or ratified it. Then the Constitution was sent to the state legislators for them to approve. Nine out of thirteen states had to approve the Constitution before it could be provided to everyone. This article was needed to explain how to accept the Constitution in our country.

The Importance of Article Seven

Article Seven is important because rules were needed to approve the Constitution. One of the concerns at the Constitutional Convention was making sure all the states got to approve it. State legislatures wanted a "say" regarding the new Constitution. They got their chance after the delegates signed it. All the delegates that signed the Constitution were very important people in America during that time. For example, George Washington and James Madison would become presidents of the United States. Alexander Hamilton became the Secretary of the Treasury in Washington's cabinets. Another famous person at the Convention was Benjamin Franklin, who was the oldest one there and was an inventor.
